Maurice Wallis, 22, of Sherwood was arrested on charges of financial identity theft, possession of a controlled substance, refusal to submit, driving with a suspended license, careless/prohibited driving, driving left of center, no seat belt, no proof of insurance, no license plate, no turn signal and improper turn. The arrest came after police were traveling eastbound on East Kiehl Avenue. Officers made contact with a female in Apartment A1 at Arrow’s Edge Apartments on Indianhead Drive who Willis told police that she was his girlfriend.
The key to the vehicle and all money on Willis’ person was given to the female per his request. The vehicle remained in the parking space at the apartment complex due to Willis residing there. Police took Willis to the city police station for processing.
Police searched him and found plastic bags containing a green leafy substance.
Sydney Edwards, 19, of Conway was arrested on charges of obstruction of governmental operations, public intoxication and possession of alcohol by a minor. During the same incident, Katheryn Koller, 19, of Conway was arrested on charges of public intoxication and possession of alcohol by a minor. The arrest took place after police observed someone driving a black pickup truck with expired tags on Kiehl Avenue.
Jessica Darrough, 33, and Christopher Brewer, 29, both of Sherwood, were arrested on domestic battery-related charges after police were dispatched to 4600 Rixie Road, Lot 312, in reference to a domestic dispute.
Kum & Go gasoline station, 3400 E. Kiehl Ave., reported someone drive off without paying for $27 worth of gasoline they pumped into their vehicle.
Officers were dispatched to the Waffle House, 6501 Warden Road in reference to a private property accident. The accident took place at in the Phillips 66 parking lot at 2428 Wildwood Ave. Larry McGowan of Sherwood said he observed the trailer of Keith Jennings of Garrett, Ind., hit the rear of his parked 2000 Chevrolet Silverado.
Police responded to a single-vehicle accident on Jacksonville Cato Road approximately one-fourth of a mile east of Cato Elementary School. Police officers were already on the scene, establishing contact. Police were informed that a small blue car headed westbound on Jacksonville Cato Road was weaving in and out of the lane when a vehicle driven by Carol Dorn of Sherwood attempted to stop to avoid impact and started losing control. Dorn said she drove off into a ditch on the north side of the eastbound lane. Damage totaled $800. No citation was issued.
