Police were performing normal patrol activities and came upon a private property accident in the front of Building 3450 of The Links Apartments on East Kiehl Avenue. Neither party reported any injury.
Damon Conley of Sherwood was operating his Nissan Titan, headed northbound through the parking lot when a 2010 yellow Crown Victoria operated by Arthur Lawrence of North Little Rock backed out of a parking space directly in front of him. The right end of Conley’s vehicle collided with the center rear end of the other vehicle.
Lawrence said he looked back for oncoming traffic but said he did not see anything. As he continued backing, the rear end of his vehicle was struck. Lawrence was determined to be at fault for improper backing but was not cited. Both vehicles sustained $1,000 of damage.
Damage to Lawrence’s vehicle consisted of a dented truck lid, dented bumper and dented left rear fender. Conley’s vehicle had damage in a crushed right front end and buckled hood.
Brandy Furrow, 32, of Sherwood was arrested on a charge of DWI (drugs). He was also cited on charges of careless/prohibited driving and no proof of insurance at the scene of an accident. The arrest came after police were traveling southbound on Arkansas 107 near Bearpaw Drive and observed Furrow’s 2005 Ford passenger van parked on the sidewalk and partially in the grass just south of the Masonic Lodge. Officers observed the vehicle to be possibly involved in an accident and was disabled, so they stopped to make contact with the occupants to assist. Furrow said she and her husband had been in an argument and he told her to leave their home. After she left the house she said she went to a bar and had one alcoholic drink.
Police observed a vehicle on Country Club that was traveling at a high rate of speed coming towards officers and cross the center median. Police caught up with the vehicle and arrested Corian Walker, 18, of Little Rock with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, DWI, careless driving, left of center and no proof of insurance. During the same incident, Deshon Merritt, 18, of North Little Rock was arrested on charges of public intoxication, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
