Students earn Optimist Club scholarships

The Greater Little Rock Optimist Club recently awarded scholarships to two Sylvan Hills High School seniors, Reid Fawcett and Savannah Finch, who placed first and second, respectively, in the Optimist’s annual oratory contest. The theme this year was “How my Passion will Impact the World.” Fawcett, who described how the passion of America’s forefathers set a standard for all Americans to follow, was awarded $3,000. A speech about her goals to impact every student’s life as a passionate elementary school teacher earned Finch a $2,000 scholarship. Fawcett will attend the University of Arkansas and Finch will be attending ASU-Beebe.
