Sherwood officer injured en route to pursuit

A Sherwood police officer at was involved in a motor vehicle accident on Jan. 2 at 8 p.m. as he was responding to a motor vehicle pursuit, according to Lt. Jamie Michaels, the department’s public information officer.

“The officer involved in the motor vehicle accident was not actively involved in the pursuit at the time of the accident,” Michaels said in a press release. “The accident occurred in the area of 1109 Wildwood. The officer involved in the accident was transported to a local hospital.”

She said the officer received treatment for the injuries received as a result of the accident and was later released from the hospital.

No other parties were injured as a result of the accident. There were other vehicles that were damaged as a result of the accident. All other involved vehicles were unoccupied at the time of the accident. Two residences that were side by side received damage as a result of the accident. The incident is still under investigation.

The department has declined so far to release the name of the officer, Michaels said.
