Sherwood | Fire Department receives grants

The Sherwood Fire Department recently received two grants for their operations.

The first grant was a Homeland Security Assistance to Firefighters Grant in the amount of $55,000. This grant will be used to replace a two decades old breathing apparatus compressor, this device is used to fill the air tanks used by the firefighters.

The department also received a $2,000 grant from Sam’s Club and Wal-Mart. These funds will be used for fire prevention programs conducted to schools and youth groups.

The Sherwood Fire Department will also install a fire detector in your home, for free, if you don’t have one. For more information, call 835-0342.
