Sherwood police are continuing their investigation in an officer-involved shooting incident that took place Wednesday morning at 106 Tenkiller St., said Sgt. Michael Payne, public information officer
The suspect involved is Crandle Hopson and he is currently in stable condition at a local hospital,
He is charged with aggravated assault on a family member and aggravated assault on a police officer.
The single officer involved in the shooting is currently on paid administrative leave, which is a standard procedure during the investigation. His name is not being released at this time.
Earlier Wednesday, Sherwood city police officers were dispatched to a domestic disturbance involving alcohol around 7 a.m.
Payne said Hopson came to the door upon arrival with a weapon in both hands and refused to put them down.
“After several attempts by officers to get him to put them down, he started pointing the weapons at officers who shot the suspect,” Payne said.
Hopson was taken into custody and transported to the hospital.
Payne said Hopson was shot in the upper torso.
