Organizers for the upcoming Sherwood Annual Pet Fair and Fun-Raiser took a few minutes to promote their cause Monday during the March regular meeting of the Sherwood City Council.
The event is slated for Saturday, April 12, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Sherwood Forest, 1111 W. Maryland Ave., Sherwood.
Proceeds from the event will benefit homeless animals at the Sherwood Animal Shelter.
Persons who attend are welcome to bring their people-friendly pet(s) will current tags.
Items to be given away at this year’s fair will be free identification tags for pets, goody bags to prepare pets for emergencies, and much more.
There will also be adoptable dogs and cats on hand during the day for anyone wanting to give a homeless animal a new home.
The animal shelter is currently accepting donations for the silent auction.

In other city business, the City Council approved the appointment of Faith Calvin to the Sherwood Advertising and Promotions Commission.
She replaces long-time member Kerry Gore. Cavin’s appointment expires on Nov. 30.
Other announcements made during the council session included:
• Officers and members of the Michael Vann Johnson Jr. American Legion Post 74 of North Little Rock will be holding a ceremony for the “Annual Tribute to Fallen Heroes” at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 29 at Sherwood Forest;
• The upcoming Great American Cleanup set for Saturday, April 12, starting at 8:30 a.m. at the Jack Evans Senior Citizens Center, 2301 Thornhill Drive;
• The Sherwood East Egg Hunt will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 20 at Sherwood Forest;
• The Sherwood Senior Citizens Center annual fish fry and silent auction has been set for Saturday, April 26, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
