Golf is a sport in some circles passed down from generation to generation, and at The Greens at North Hills in Sherwood this concept is no exception.
Dawn Darter, The Greens’ golf professional, said Junior Golf Season is approaching at the Sherwood municipal golf course.
“We have started a Junior Golf League with two other area courses,” said Darter. “They are Maumelle Country Club and Centennial Valley Country Club in Conway.”
Darter said the fee for each junior is $175.
“This fee covers a Team shirt, practice time, lessons and matches,” she said.
The first practice will be on Wednesday, June 1, at 5 p.m. Each team will have 8-10 players.
“This is a great opportunity to get boys and girls involved in golf,” according to Darter. “Skill level is not a requirement.”

“We will have a 5-8 year old class starting June 5 at 9 (a.m.)” she said. “The class will meet each Wednesday at 9:00 through July 3. That will be five sessions and the fee will be $60 per child.”
For those juniors’ ages 9-17 who wish to play tournament play, the PGA junior Tour starts in June. Registration may be completed on line at www.arkansaspga.com.
“Choose the Junior Tour Link for registration and schedule,” said Darter.
Private lessons for those 17 and under are available for a series of six for $100.
Darter added that The Greens is trying to add other services to help the more technologically savvy.
“The Greens At North Hills is excited to announce the success The Greens At North Hills Mobile App. This App is available for both Android and Apple smart phones and features free GPS for the golf course and the ability to book your Tee Times on your phone. The app is available to download for free.”
