Sylvan Hills UMC plans Trick or Treat on the lawn on Oct. 31
“Trick or treat on the lawn!” is planned for Wednesday, Oct. 31, from 6-7:30 p.m. at Sylvan Hills United Methodist Church, 9921 Arkansas 107, Sherwood.
The church wants to provide a fun and safe environment for “Trick-or-Treating” in the community. The church’s ministry teams will have booths set up on the front lawn so visitors can put their costumes on and come fill up their bags with treats.
KSB Shredathon slated for Oct. 29
Keep Sherwood Beautiful has again arranged with Cintas Business Management to provide shredding services from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the Wal-Mart Neighborhood parking lot at 8801 Highway 107 in Sherwood.
Everyone is invited to bring their personal papers, bills, old documents and bank statements and make use of this safe and secure free service. Participants can watch what they bring being put through the shredder as assurance of the security.
KSB Annual Fall Clean-Up Event set for Nov. 10
Keep Sherwood Beautiful is seeking volunteers for this fall’s annual Great Arkansas Clean-Up to be held on Saturday Nov. 10. Participants will meet at 8:30 a.m. at the Jack Evans Senior Center on Thornhill to receive supplies and assignments.
The fall agenda includes planting of shrubs and trees at several Sherwood parks as well as specific areas needing clean-up. “We hope that if anyone sees a Sherwood area that needs our attention I will be called,” said KSB Admin. Dir. Betty Burnhardt. “Call 835-4699.”
All will return to Jack Evans Senior Center at noon for lunch. There will be door prizes for the lucky and Keep Arkansas Beautiful T-shirts for all.
Sherwood Chamber monthly membership luncheon set for Nov. 1
The November Membership Luncheon for the Sherwood Chamber of Commerce will begin earlier than usual, at 11:30 a.m., at The Greens at North Hills. The program will be presented by Col. Archie Frye, Commander of the 22 AF Det 1 Air Force Reserve, and Douglas Bowers, Chief of Voluntary Service with the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System.
Because this will be a special abbreviated meeting, the chamber will have box lunches catered by Bunkers Bistro. The lunch meeting will be followed by the 1st Annual “A.L.B.A.T.R.O.S.S. Team with a Vet” Golf Tournament downstairs at 12:30 p.m., with proceeds going to help veterans offset the cost of seeking medical treatment and services. People planning to attend are asked to please remember to RSVP by Tuesday, Oct. 30.

Veterans Day parade planned for Nov. 4
The annual Sherwood Veterans Day Parade is set for Sunday, Nov. 4, beginning at 2 p.m.
Sherwood Chamber starts Young Professionals group
The Sherwood Chamber of Commerce has started a Sherwood Young Professionals group. This group is a networking avenue for young professionals in the Sherwood area to build relationships with other future community leaders. Whether a person is job searching, wanting to promote a business, or looking for business contacts, this organization will help participants achieve these goals in a fun way.
The plan is to do a quarterly networking event to encourage these relationships. This group is new, and the chamber would like more people to help make it a success.
