Great Spring CleanUp set for May 18

Volunteers are needed for the Keep Sherwood Beautiful Seventh annual Great American Spring CleanUp starting at 8:39 a.m. Saturday May 18. Volunteers will gather at Jack Evans Senior Center, 2301 Thornhill to receive assignments and supplies.

Families, individuals and groups are invited to participate in litter pick-up and beautification projects. Suggested areas needing attention include Cherrywood Lake area, Johnson Drive, and Bear Paw Road. Anyone aware of an area that needs cleaned up should call the KSB office at 835-4699.

At completion of assignments volunteers will return to the Senior Center for lunch again donated and served by Popeye’s plus a dessert of Ding-Dong cake donated by Two Sisters Catering. There will be drawings for prizes and as in the past Keep Arkansas T-shirts will be given out to all participants.

Nominations needed for yard of the month

Keep Sherwood Beautiful is seeking nominations for the May Yard-Of-The-Month contest.

“We were disappointed that we received no April nominations,” said contest chair Cris Sager, “but hope that now spring is really here and flowers are blooming Sherwood residents will take notice of a pleasant, well-groomed and colorful yard and call our office at 835-4699 before May 21.”

Yards must be nominated to be judged. Winning selections will be awarded on May 28. Winners will receive a $10 certificate from Arkansas Gardens, 9511 Highway 107, Sherwood, and $10 from KSB.
