Williams-Smith places second in wrestling tournament

Jordan Williams-Smith, a seventh grade student at Arkansas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired from North Little Rock, received a second place medal in the 125 pound weight class on April 13 at the Brute Nationals wrestling tournament in Independence, Mo.

Smith has been wrestling at ASBVI for six years, and is the son of Tametria and Tech Sergeant Martel Smith, a flight engineer instructor for the Air National Guard 189th Operation Training Instructor at Little Rock Air Force Base.

The Brute nationals is a tournament sponsored by R.E.A.C.H.E.S. (Rewarding Educational Athletic Choices Helping Each Sport), a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization founded in 2007 in an effort to promote, protect and preserve amateur athletics in its truest form. R.E.A.C.H.E.S. provides athletic opportunities to athletes of all ages and abilities in a unique environment with the profits of each event earmarked for specific needs in that sport.
