North Little Rock had a pair of Wildcats finish in the top four in their weight class in the 7A-Central conference meet.
Victor Crawford and Kaylen Hutchinson both finished fourth in their respective 182 and 195 pound weight classes.
Crawford won his first match easily, 19-9. After a loss in the next round, Crawford came back to pin his next two opponents in the consolation bracket before losing in the consolation finals.
Hutchinson finished fourth in much the same way. The 195 pounder had a close one to start, winning 7-5. He lost the next match, then pinned his first opponent in the consolation bracket to earn a spot in the finals.
Jacob Gilliam was the only other Wildcat to pick up a win in the winners’ bracket. Wrestling in the 126-pound class, Gilliam pinned his first opponent in under a minute. He lost his next match, then pinned his next opponent even faster. A loss just before the consolation finals ended his tournament.
In the 113 division, Keshawn Foster lost his first match, and then crushed his next two opponents 19-4 and 19-3 before losing again.
Alex Chancey also finished just out of the top four in his 120 class. Chancey lost his first match, then earned a pair of pins in the consolation side. Chancey lost one match away from the consolation finals.
Antonio Pleasant (145) and Kelonte Montgomery (152) both lost their first matches then pinned their next opponent before being eliminated.
Patrick Partin (106), Gabe Curlin (132), Adam Wilson (138), Anthony Charles (160), Nathan Heckman (170), Kylen Thomas (220) and Ismael Dixon (285) all competed hard, but didn’t come up with a win this time in the tough conference.
