NORTH LITTLE ROCK SWIMMING | Hale, Ameling key to Wet Cats success

The North Little Rock Wildcats finished fourth in the Little Rock Catholic season ending invitational this past week.

The Wildcats had a strong start to the swim meet with a second place finish in the 200y Medley Relay.

In the individual events, Mason Graves finished 10th in the 200y Freestyle and later came back stronger with a sixth place finish in the 500y Freestyle.

The 200y Individual Medley saw Josh Hale earn a fifth place finish, while teammate Caleb Ameling was right behind him in sixth. Ameling also gave the Wildcats their best individual performance with a second place in the 100y Backstroke.

Lee Smothers finished fourth in the 50y Freestyle, while Adam Koenig fought for an 11th place finish in the 100y Butterfly.

Smothers matched Ameling’s second place award with his own second in the 100y Freestyle. Hale gave the Wildcats two swimmers in the top three, finishing third.

The final individual race saw Matt Brown come in fifth in the 100y Breaststroke.

As a team, the Wildcats finished fifth in the 200y Freestyle Relay and sixth in the 400y Freestyle Relay.

Central Arkansas Christian had just one swimmer place in the events, but he won both of his races. Caleb Hathaway had a close win in the 50y Freestyle, and then dominated the field in the 100y Freestyle.
