NORTH LITTLE ROCK SOFTBALL

Ask North Little Rock head coach Anthony Cantrell how his team looks since they’ve returned to the conference schedule from spring break and he will tell you that he likes what he sees.

“We are playing pretty good,” Cantrell said.

The Lady Charging Wildcats traveled to West Memphis and pulled off a 16-0 mercy rule win over the Lady Blue Devils.

West Memphis had a couple of internal issues losing a pair of pitchers to injury thus putting them at a distinct disadvantage against a team in NLR that is pushing towards a high playoff seed.

“We got out bats going,” Cantrell said. “We had a couple girls that had good nights.”

Ashton Bobbitt had three hits in three at-bats.

But the best performance of the night came from the circle by Katy Wynne who struck out eight of the nine hitters she faced and didn’t allow a hit.

Up next the Lady Charging Wildcats will take on the Beebe Lady Badgers on Thursday. The Lady Badgers are picked to finish in the upper tier of the 5A-East. Beebe is already a bit battle tested having split a double header with Greene County Tech in their league opener losing in the bottom of the seventh two weeks ago.

North Little Rock resumes conference play on Tuesday when they host Marion.
