NORTH LITTLE ROCK FOOTBALL | Bolding has 34 seniors back for Wildcat this fall

Last year is last year.

That’s the message that North Little Rock head football coach Brad Bolding is conveying to his team as spring practice started this week.

“It’s a new year,” Bolding said. “We can’t change history.”

Not that last year was bad, but a loss to Fayetteville in the semifinals left a bad taste that Bolding said his team must eliminate.

It’s time to hit the reset button.

“We have lost a lot,” Bolding said. “But we have guys here that are very fast, very strong, and very talented.”

But Bolding said the mental aspect at this time of year is key.

“We didn’t have a good day mentally on Monday,” Bolding said. “We had some conditioning issues in heat. We don’t start our conditioning work until July.”

Still Bolding said the Charging Wildcats have to be able to overcome mental obstacle to achieve success.

“We have to have a positive attitude,” Bolding said. “We have to have work ethic, and the discipline to execute.”

Focus for the Charging Wildcats has to be on the task at hand, the play they are running and not so much the end result.

34 seniors are looking for an identity — an identity beyond the hype of the 2012 season.

“Time to get back to focusing on the process,” Bolding said, “and executing the next play.”
