Weather has been brutal on outdoor sports in Arkansas. After a wild weather football season, Mother Nature seems to be indiscriminant. The North Little Rock Charging Wildcats have had to postpone a pair of conference matchup against Jonesboro. A May 4 makeup is scheduled.
“It is what it is,” head coach Randy Sandefur said. “We can’t worry about the weather.”
In the meantime, Sandefur has his team working indoors in cages and on the indoor pitching mounds.
The Charging Wildcats go to Sylvan Hills on Saturday and resume conference play against Searcy. Both games promise a competitive test for the Charging Wildcats.
“I wouldn’t want to live on the margins,” Sandefur said.
Sandefur Searcy has played competitively with several 7A schools and the Bears are a good team as well.
“It really doesn’t matter who we play,” Sandefur said. “It’s all about staying focused.”
The Charging Wildcats will continue to adjust by hitting and pitching indoors and working on ground balls on the football field.
“The soccer team allows us to use half of their field,” Sandefur said.
Hopefully, they can spend more time on their own field very soon.
