Lakewood rides young Waves to second

Lakewood hosted a swim meet Saturday morning, welcoming the Sherwood Sharks and Lonoke SharkRockets to the pool.

The Waves finished behind the massive Sharks’ team, but more than doubled a talented SharkRockets squad.

Lakewood was led by their 9-10 year-olds, with Tristan Taylor having a big day with wins in the gold breast and silver free, back and IM. For the girls in that age, Sydney Plaquet had a good day with wins in the silver free and back and the bronze IM.

Caleb Hoskins (B 11-12) gave the Waves four of their wins taking the gold free and IM, the silver fly and the bronze back. Emily Marlin (G 13-14) equaled those points, winning the silver breast and IM and the bronze back.

Three of the female Waves, Chloe Festervand (9-10), Sarah Marlin (11-12) and Cameron Bethell (13-14) each placed well enough for 11 points each. Marlin won the gold breast and silver free and took third in the gold back. Bethell won the silver free and fly and finished third in the bronze breast, while Festervand won the bronze back, was second in the IM and free.

Kolton Jones (B 11-12) won the bronze breast and IM, Hayden DePriest (B 15-18) won the silver free and bronze fly, while Laney Deal (G 6-under) won the bronze free and back.

Harrison Richmond (B 7-8) won the gold breast, took second in the silver back and was third in the platinum free. Luci Festervand (G 6-under) won the silver free and was second in the silver back. Elliot LaBeau won the silver breast and was second in the IM.

Caroline Jones (G 9-10) won the bronze free and was third in the IM, Sydney Scott (G 13-14) was second in the silver breast, and third in the bronze back and IM, while Carlie Crump (G 13-14) won the bronze free and Josh King (B 9-10) won the bronze fly and Jalen Waits (B 9-10) the bronze free.

Justice Austin (G 13-14) won the bronze IM and was third in the fly, Leigha Heard (G 9-10) finished second in the bronze back, Mina LaBeau (G 9-10) was second in the bronze breast, while finishing third were Caroline Richmond (G 9-10) in the gold free, James Bowling in the bronze back, Alex Turnbo (B 11-12) in the bronze breast and Katie Jones (G 15-18) in the bronze breast.
