Dylan Howell has come into his own in his senior year and it’s allowed him to extend his baseball career.
Howell, a senior pitcher for North Little Rock, signed a letter of intent to play for Arkadelphia’s Henderson State University as a pitcher.
“It couldn’t have happened to a better person,” coach Randy Sandefur said. “With what he’s gone through, it’s great to see.”
Sandefur said Howell had an up and down junior year after being a solid starter as a sophomore pitcher two years ago.
“He even had some trouble in the summer,” Sandefur said, “but he’s turned it around.”
Howell pitched his best game of his career against Marion last week striking out seven while walking just one getting numerous ground balls in a 5-3 win.
“We got down 2-0, but not because of his pitching,” Sandefur said.
Howell came back and dominated after some shaky early innings.
