Colts lose a wild affair to Conway

It was a wild one for the Colts last night.

North Little Rock’s American Legion team played baseball, but anyone driving by the field in Conway would swear the 18-13 loss was more football-esque.

“It was a crazy game,” acting head coach Tim Dulin said.

Jake Sandefur started on the mound and threw 55 pitches, but got into trouble immediately and didn’t escape the first inning.

“I think maybe I kept him in there a little too long,” Dulin said. “I wanted him to work through some adversity, but he just couldn’t get the third out.”

Lawson Dulin was then inserted for the final out of the first. Jordan Reed then worked a scoreless second and got through the third.

North Little Rock scored six runs and a wild three innings left the score at 10-8.

But five runs by Conway including a three-run homer put the game out of reach, even though North Little Rock put up five in the seventh to push Conway.

“We just weren’t focused,” Dulin said. “We battled, but we just weren’t focused in any area.”

A game at Cabot on Wednesday will be the final competition for the week before getting back on the diamond next week.
