Merle Brashears

Merle Dean Breshears, of North Little Rock died, Thursday, March 14, 2013. She was a member of Gardner Methodist Church and taught Sunday school for over 20 years and volunteered with the Gardner Food Pantry.

She was born Nov. 22, 1923 in Carthage to James Jeptha and Laura Anne Gill. After graduating from Carthage High School she enrolled in Drawns School of Business and moved to Little Rock. After completing her course study she was hired at Western Union.

Survivors include children, Peggy Vickers and husband Earl of North Little Rock, Paula Brinkley of North Little Rock and her late husband Keith Brinkley, and Dr. Russ Breshears and wife Diana of Little Rock; grandchildren, Keith Hughes and wife Alicia, Krystle and Laura Brinkley, and Gabriel and Mary Beth Breshears; great-grandchildren, Lucie and Henry Hughes.

The family requests memorials be sent to Gardner Memorial Methodist Church Food Pantry, Barnabas House at Oak Forrest Methodist Church, 2415 Fair Park Blvd. Little Rock, AR 72204 or Arkansas Foodbank, 4301 W 65th Street, Little Rock, AR 72209.
