Matalie Webb

Matalie Webb 97, of North Little Rock, Arkansas passed away June 12, 2014. She was born July 29, 1916 in England, Arkansas and was the last surviving child of eight born to Joseph and Myra Webb.

Matalie graduated as valedictorian from England High School in 1934. She earned a Degree from Central Baptist College in Conway, Arkansas graduating with highest honors. After teaching school for three years in Keo, Arkansas, she was employed in Washington, DC, transferred back to Little Rock, Arkansas in 1941 to the Selective Service Headquarters. Upon their closing, she transferred to the VA Hospital in North Little Rock, Arkansas, as secretary to the Chief of Staff. Matalie retired from this position in 1976.

Matalie spent her retirement years enjoying reading, watching television going to movies and attending activities of nieces and nephews. She contributed her long life to her love and enjoyment of her nieces and nephews, their children and grandchildren, being affectionately called “Mammee” by all of them. She was a faithful member of the first United Methodist Church of North Little Rock, Arkansas.

She is survived by nieces and nephews, Kathy Jolly (Dr. Robert), Dr. David Bevans Jr (Peggy), Carl Powell (Colleen), Jerry Wilbourn (Nancy), Bert Webb (Betty), Mitzi Webb, and Bobbye Jeanne Lankford.

She was a wonderful Aunt, friend and supporter to all and will be forever be in our hearts.

The family deeply appreciates the loving care given to her by the physicians, nurses and staff especially Sharron Stuff at Baptist Health North Little Rock. A special thank you to a dear friend and caregiver June Ann Benafield

A graveside service was held June 17 at Edgewood Memorial Park in North Little Rock, Arkansas with Pastor Davis Thompson and Pastor Brent Higdem officiated

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of North Little Rock and Arkansas Childrens Hospital.

Services under the direction of Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home, 7724 Landers Road, North Little Rock.
