Leroy Thacker

Leroy C. Thacker, 88, of Maumelle died Wednesday, March 27, 2013. He was born Aug. 18, 1924 to Noah D. Thacker and Gladys Davenport. He was a member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon for many years. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and in the Arkansas Army National Guard for 30 years. He retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 1981.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Lee Ann Moore; brother, Ray Thacker and three sisters.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Carol Kennedy Thacker of Maumelle; daughters, Marcia Cash and husband Chris of Hot Springs, and Brenda Word and husband Bill of North Little Rock; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Sue Garrard and husband Harold and Gaynelle Fleming; and many other relatives and friends.

A funeral was held on Monday, April 1 at Faith Missionary Baptist Church in North Little Rock with Dr. Freddie Holmes and Rev. Logan B.C. Hutson officiating. Burial was in Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery.
