George Ruff

George Thomas Ruff, 85, of North Little Rock, departed this earthly life for his eternal home in heaven on June 13, 2014. George was born March 9, 1929 in Witt Springs. His family moved to Harrison. He graduated from Harrison High School and moved to North Little Rock.

George was employed by the Mopac and Union Pacific Railroad for 41 years, as a pipefitter and sheet metal worker. He was a member of Park Hill Baptist Church, the Red Hill Hunting Club and Hays Senior Center. He always enjoyed fishing and hunting and looked forward each year to deer season, never coming home empty handed.

George was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Linnie Ruff of Harrison; brothers, Arlin Ruff of Harrison, Ardy Ruff of Benton and Richard, Jr. of North Little Rock; sisters, Emily Harness of Welcome Home; Doris Ruff and Birtie June Ruff of Harrison. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Juanita (Crase) Ruff; two daughters, Sandra (Thurman) Booth and Janet (John) Nash of Sherwood; one grandson, Jason M. Howard (Tangie) of Sherwood, three precious great-grandchildren, Allie, Hannah and Jordan Howard of Sherwood; sisters, Gwen (Walt) Swartz and Connie (Joe) Cecil of Harrison; brothers, Wayne (Shirley) Ruff of Avondale, Colo., and David (Carol) Ruff of Springdale. He leaves behind a host of friends and family.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 17 at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St. Burial followed at Maplewood Cemetery in Harrison.
