Frank Gutierrez, 92, of North Little Rock, died Sunday, April 14, 2013. He was born in Santa Fe, N.M. to Jose and Guadalupita Sisneros Gutierrez on Jan. 29, 1921. He served proudly in the Armed Forces in Kodiak, Alaska and Europe during War World II. Upon returning from the War, he came to Little Rock and began his career at Wonder Bakery in 1945. His baking experience began at an early age, since his parents owned a Bakery in downtown Santa Fe. He started as a baker and worked his way up to Bake Shop Superintendent. He retired after 38 years. After his retirement he volunteered for 10 years at the VA in Little Rock and also with the American Association of Retired Persons.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Elejo and Fortino Gutierrez; and sisters, Juanita Thurman, Nashie Lujan and Isabelle Gutierrez.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Marietta; step-daughter, Rita Newman of North Little Rock; grandchildren, Brad Newman and wife Erin of McRae and Melany Newman Stacionis of Ill.; great-grandchildren, Caleb Mahnken, Lane Newman and Mallory Stacionis; half sisters, Mary Linda Gutierrez and Kathy Wallace; half brothers, Joe Gutierrez, Jr. and Amado Gutierrez.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., today at Grace Lutheran Church, 5124 Hillcrest Ave., Little Rock. Burial will be 11 a.m., Friday at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery.
