Two school buses belonging to the Batesville School District were involved in a single collision Tuesday about 8:45 a.m. The rear-end collision between the two buses occurred along U.S. 67, south of the McCain exit, said Bill Sadler, public information officer for the Arkansas State Police.
The crash occurred as the lead bus slowed with traffic. The second bus failed to slow and collided with the rear of the first bus.
Six students were transported to Arkansas Children’s Hospital. The extent of their injuries is unknown at this hour. About 55 students were on each bus. Officials said the students had planned to go to the State Capitol before the accident took place.
