Travs one win away from Texas League title

On the strength of a C.J. Cron homerun, the Arkansas Travelers defeated San Antonio, 4-1, Friday night in Game 3 of the Texas League Championship Series at Dickey-Stephens Park in North Little Rock.

One of the hottest teams in baseball, the Travs have won 13 of the last 14 games.

Cron hit the two-run blast in the sixth inning for the Travs to put the team ahead 3-1 for the eventual victory.

Ryan Chaffee picked up the win in relief of Travs starter Mark Sappington, while Michael Morin, who pitched the final inning, got the save.

The Travs go into Game 4 with Lay Batista getting the Saturday night start. Batista’s playoff ERA has been a miniscule 1.42 in the postseason. San Antonio is scheduled to start Juan Oramas.

The game starts at 7:10 p.m. with gates opening at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets are $6 for general admission seats and they can be purchased online at www.travs.com or by calling 664-1555.
