On Sept. 9, the Thea Foundation attended a North Little Rock School District elementary principals’ meeting at the district’s central office to present sixty copies, five per elementary school, of art book, Looking at Paintings, by Erika Langmuir. Looking at Paintings explores the techniques and history of arguably the most popular art medium through a young reader’s perspective.

The Thea Foundation received the books from the Molina Foundation of Torrance, Calif., and hope to further its respective missions by donating the books to area schools to be used by students in libraries and classrooms. The Molina Foundation is dedicated to improving lives through literacy and education and, as of 2012, has distributed over 800,000 books to children all over the country.

The Thea Foundation will also be donating copies of Artist to Artist: 23 Major Illustrators Talk to Children about Their Art by Eric Carle, bequeathed by the Molina Foundation, to high schools in the North Little Rock School District at a date to be announced.
