Police investigating officer shooting

Wednesday, a little after noon, North Little Rock police responded to a 911 call of a man causing a disturbance on a CAT bus near the 400 block of Maple Street.

An officer, who was not identified, made contact with the man on the bus.

The man then left the bus and began hitting the officer with a cane.

The report states that in response, “the officer fired his weapon striking the suspect.”

As of presstime Wednesday, the man, who was taken to UAMS for treatment and later died there, has not been identified pending notification of family.

The officer, per department policy, was placed on adminstrative leave.

The North Little Rock detectives division responded to the scene and the investigation is still ongoing.
