FAYETTEVILLE — North Little Rock’s Verizon Arena has been selected to host the 2015 Southeastern Conference Women’s Basketball Tournament.
The SEC announced the selection this morning.
It’s the fourth time the arena — which was previously known as Alltel Arena — has been selected to host the tournament.
“The Southeastern Conference and its member institutions are excited to return to a city that has shown tremendous support for SEC women’s basketball,” SEC commissioner Mike Slive said in a statement. “Verizon Arena is a great facility and North Little Rock is an enthusiastic community that is perfect to showcase our women’s basketball programs. We know that our student-athletes, coaches and fans will greatly enjoy a return visit to the area.”
The SEC Women’s Tournament also was held in North LIttle Rock in 2003, 2006 and 2009.
The tournament will be held in Duluth, Ga., this season, while the conference office is currently in the bid process for the 2016 and 2017 tournaments.
The conference has announced that Nashville will host the SEC Women’s Tournament in 2018, 2022 and 2026.
