In observation of St. Patrick’s Day, the North Little Rock Housing Authority kicked off its GO GREEN initiative to staff and residents on March 11.
In an effort to reduce waste throughout the agency, all housing residential sites received recycle bins from Waste Management that have been placed in the primary common areas at each location. Office staffers were also encouraged to maintain an area within their offices for recycling of paper, plastic, and printer cartridges.
In 2009, the Housing Authority began looking at more efficient ways to operate. During that time, the focus was on energy conservation. This year, the authority has decided to branch out more by encouraging recycling. Several staff members were already doing their part as a way of life for themselves so now the authority wants to make it an agency-wide effort. Our goal is to make our residents more aware of the benefits of recycling and have the staff lead by example.
