The North Little Rock Chamber of Commerce’s 28th Annual Meeting will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 19, at Verizon Arena in North Little Rock. A cocktail reception begins at 5:15 pm followed by dinner and program at 6:45 pm. Doors will open at 5 p.m.
Sponsored tables of ten are available for $600 or individual tickets can be purchased for $60 per person.
The program will feature guest speaker James Lee Witt, Executive Chairman of the Board with Witt O’Brien’s and Former Director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
Founder and Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors of Witt Associates, Witt was appointed by President Clinton and confirmed by the U.S. Senate as Director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency in April 1993. In February 1996, President Clinton elevated Witt to cabinet status, a first for a FEMA Director. As FEMA Director, Witt coordinated federal disaster relief on behalf of President Clinton, including the response and recovery activities of 28 federal agencies and departments, the American Red Cross and other voluntary agencies.
He also oversaw the National Flood Insurance Program, the U.S. Fire Administration and other pro-active mitigation activities that reduce loss of life and property from all types of hazards. Witt directed 2,500 employees located in Washington, D.C. and 10 regional offices.
From 1993 to 2000, Witt oversaw more than 350 disasters.
Cathy Owen of Eagle Bank & Trust Company, the Chamber’s 2012 Chairman, will present her administration’s accomplishments of the past year, while John Burgess of Mainstream Technologies will serve as 2013 Chamber Chairman. Burgess will discuss what his plans are for 2013.
The 2012 Business of the Year award recipient, Wyndham Riverfront, and 2012 Non-Profit Partner of the Year award recipient, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arkansas, will be recognized.
Also debuting at the event will be the Chamber’s 2013 Community Profile & Membership Directory.
