The city of North Little Rock continues to work on clearing debris following the Christmas snowstorm, according to Harold Ford, director of the North Little Rock Sanitation Department.
“As everyone knows, we have just experienced a significant ice and snow storm event,” Ford said.
In the days following the storm, department yard waste crews were behind due to the enormous amount of storm debris on the ground.
Ford said he instructed the department’s boom trucks to collect half of the big tree loads the first week and the remainder on next week’s routes.
“We are attempting to service as many of our customers on their regular collection day as possible,” Ford said.
Ford said some city residents had not started cutting the broken limbs and brush due to being frozen and covered with snow.
“As the weather improves, please explain to the callers that we are working extended hours to remove the storm debris and ask them to be a little patient,” Ford said. “In addition, we will be using garbage trucks to collect bagged leaves and small debris to help the boom trucks remove as much as possible. Remind our callers that garbage will be collected on our holiday week schedule this week and if they see a garbage truck in the neighbor early, we are collecting yard waste only.”
