City Council advised of child free meal program underway until Aug. 8; council makes appointments to energy, library boards

The North Little Rock City Council was advised during its June 9 session that the city’s parks and recreation department is sponsoring a summer food service program.

“Meals will be provided to eligible children free of charge,” said Tina Worrell, a spokeswoman for the city parks and recreation department. “All children 18 and under are eligible for a free meal.”

Daycare facilities, churches and community organizations are welcome to bring their kids to participating sites for breakfast and lunch. Kids are not required to be enrolled in summer camp in order to receive a free meal.

Worrell said meals will be provided through Aug. 8.

Sites are providing meals this year, which are:

- North Heights Community Center, 4801 Allen St., North Little Rock, phone number 501-791-8576; Breakfast will be served from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. daily and lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily.

- Sherman Park Community Center, 624 N. Beech St., North Little Rock, phone number 501-340-5373; Breakfast will be served from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. daily and lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily.

- Glenview Community Center, 4800 E. 19th St., North Little Rock, phone number 501-945-2921. Breakfast will be served from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. daily and lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily.

- Hamilton Boys & Girls Club, 600 N. Palm St., North Little Rock. Breakfast will be served from 8-9 a.m. daily while lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

- Rose City Boys and Girls Club, 400 Rose Lane, North Little Rock. Phone number is 501-907-5387. Breakfast will be served from 8-9 a.m. daily while lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

- Laman Library’s Argenta Branch, 420 Main St., North Little Rock. Phone number is 501-687-1061. Breakfast will be served from 9-10 a.m. daily while lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily.

- Laman Library’s Main Branch, 2801 Orange St., North Little Rock. Phone number is 501-771-1995. Breakfast will be served from 9-10 a.m. daily while lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily.

In other business, alderman voted to make the following appointments to various boards:

- Clay Patridge was appointed to the North Little Rock Energy Improvement District’s Board of Director. His appointment will expire on June 9, 2016.

- Charles Foster was appointed to the North Little Rock Energy Improvement District’s Board of Director. His appointment will expire on June 9, 2016.

- William Gruber was appointed to the North Little Rock Energy Improvement District’s Board of Director. His appointment will expire on June 9, 2016.

- Todd Larson was appointed to the North Little Rock Energy Improvement District’s Board of Director. His appointment will expire on June 9, 2016.

- Terry Hartwick was appointed to the North Little Rock Energy Improvement District’s Board of Director. His appointment will expire on June 9, 2016.

- Lisa Meyer was appointed to the North Little Rock Energy Improvement District’s Board of Director. Her appointment will expire on June 9, 2016.

Susan Sierra will serve on the North Little Rock Historic District Commission, taking the place of Erica Suskie. Her term will expire on March 8, 2017.
