Boys/Girls Club receives funding from NLR Council

The North Little Rock City Council on Feb. 24 authorized Mayor Joe Smith to enter into agreement with the North Little Rock Boys and Girls Club of Central Arkansas.

Along with the approval of the resolution was the appropriation of $50,000 to be donated to the club. The council has donated funds to the club for years.

“NLR Boys and Girls Club benefits local youth by helping them grow and develop in positive ways, and the city desires to enter into an agreement with NLR Boys and Girls Club for the benefit of local children,” reads the resolution.

In the performance report submitted to aldermen, the Jim Wetherington Club has 978 members, served 565 youths, helped 52 single parent families, and served 30,257 meals.

The Hamilton Club has 240 members, served 200 youths, helped 70 single parent families, and served 12,796 meals.

The Rose City Club has 303 members, served 372 youths, helped 62 single parent families, and served 13,306 meals.

The club is geared to help the children of Central Arkansas.
