The North Little Rock School District has begun utilizing SubTeachUSA to provide substitute teachers better training, beginning with this school year.
Substitute teachers play an important role in the education of students and their proper training is very important, according to Shara Brazear, a spokeswoman for the North Little Rock School District.
“The training of NLRSD substitute teachers is an area we have been focusing on to better serve NLR students, and to better prepare NLRSD substitute teachers for the classroom,” she said. “As a result some changes which will be taking place for the 2013-14 school year.”
The North Little Rock School District will be using the services of SubTeachUSA, a substitute teacher provider service to help meet the needs of NLRSD students and staff, she said.
“SubTeachUSA will provide substitute teacher training seminars for anyone who wishes to substitute in the NLRSD. In addition SubTeachUSA utilizes “AESOP” (a computerized teacher absence /substitute notification program) and a live telephone call center that will book substitute teaching jobs via telephone. SubTeachUSA offers weekly pay for substitute teachers.
The seminars are being held this week. The first one was held Wednesday, another one is planned for tonight.
“Keep in mind in order to be considered to substitute teach in the NLRSD your attendance at one of the four sessions listed below is necessary,” Brazear said.
Wednesday’s sessions were held at Lakewood Middle School’s mini-auditorium.
Today’s sessions are set for 8:30-11:30 a.m. and 1-4 p.m. at the same location. The site is located at 2400 Lakeview Road behind the Target Store on McCain Boulevard.
“If you would like to get a head start on the application process, please go to www.subteachusa.com and complete their online application or you can call the SubTeachUSA offices at 1-800-641-0140,” she said.
