LISA Academy holding foreign language contest on Jan. 18

On Friday, at 6:30 p.m. students from LISA Academy North and LISA Academy West will join together and show what they have learned in their foreign language classes. The foreign languages include German, Spanish and Turkish. The students will be judged in the following contests: art, song, poem and folk. There will also be food booths and much more. Tickets for food will be $1 each. Tickets will be sold at the gym entrance. All proceeds will go to charity. Food will be served between 5:30- 6:15 p.m. Festivities begin at 6:30 p.m. An awards ceremony will follow after all judging has been completed.

Park Hill Baptist sponsors internet safety seminar on Jan. 25

Park Hill Baptist Church, 201 E. C Ave., North Little Rock, has planned a seminar called, “Sex, Kids & the Internet” for Friday, Jan. 25, at 7 p.m.

The cost is $5. The community seminar is aimed at helping parents and educators. People who attend will learn the latest facts and statistics, ways to minimize risk, tips for online safety and common pitfalls for kids. For more information or to register online visit www.parkhillbaptist.org.

Parents can learn about the teenage brain on Feb. 12

The North Little Rock High School Sophomore Campus will welcome Cathy Hagemeier, guest speaker, to conduct an hour-long presentation called “Inside the Teenage Brain!” on Feb. 12 from 6:30-7:45 p.m. in the Lakewood Middle School mini-auditorium. The event is open to all parents.

Friends of the Animals Chili Supper set for Feb. 15

The North Little Rock Friends of the Animals has scheduled a chili supper for Feb. 15 from 5-8 p.m. at Park Hill Christian Church, 4400 JFK Blvd., North Little Rock. The cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children ages 9-12. The menu, which will permit takeouts as well as those sitting in on the dinner, will include chili, cole slaw, nachos, crackers, punch, coffee and dessert. The chili suppers have become a black where folks can come to enjoy a great meal and to relax with friends as they enjoy classic hits by Patsy Cline, Neil Diamond, Elvis and many more performed by Reflections Entertainment Tribute.

A new addition, Heaven’s Echoes, will help Friends of the Animals sing heartfelt gospel music. People are encouraged to invite their friends and neighbors. All proceeds will go to the North Little Rock Animal Shelter’s adoption, rescue, spay and neuter programs.
