Community Cinema to offer free screening of ‘The Graduates/Los Graduados’

There will be a free screening of “The Graduates/Los Graduados” at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1., in the William F. Laman Library auditorium, 2801 Orange St.

“The Graduates” explores the many roots of the Latino dropout crisis through the eyes of six inspiring young students from across the United States who are part of an ongoing effort to increase graduation rates for a growing Latino population. Much more than a survey of contemporary policy debates, the student profiles in the film offer a firsthand perspective on the challenges facing many Latino high school students, including overcrowded schools, crime-ridden neighborhoods, teen pregnancy and pressure to contribute to the family finances.

The event is hosted by the Arkansas Educational Television Network, University of Arkansas at Little Rock Public Radio/

KUAR FM 89.1 and William F. Laman Library.
