Lakewood United Methodist Church, 1922 Topf Road, North Little Rock: Rev. Richard Lanaster will lead a discussion on “Old Testament Turning Points” by Victor H. Matthews as part of the summer book club at 10 a.m., Sunday, Aug. 18 and 25 in the Gibson Hall. It’s about eight landmark Old Testament narratives that not only shaped Israelite identity but also continued to echo throughout the Old Testament as Israel grew into its role as the people of God.

“The Quest for Authentic Manhood,” will begin at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 4. A captivating journey comprised of 24 sessions, this series helps men understand their masculine identity and show them how to make the pursuit of authentic manhood a lifelong priority. It helps men deal with various identity issues by looking back at past wounds and other things that may have distorted their idea of biblical masculinity.

Applied Light Coffeehouse Worship Community, Wednesdays, 6:30 p.m. in Gibson Hall: Join us for a mid-week worship experience that is informal and inspiring. Baring Cross Baptist Church, 7541 Warden Road, Sherwood: The Sunday School appreciation banquet will be held at 5 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 18, in the gym. This is a time set aside to honor and thank our Sunday School teachers for all they do to make Sunday School hour very worshipful and learning time.
