The Arkansas State Wrestling tournaments for 6A-7A and 1A-5A will start this Friday at the Jack Stephens Center on the campus of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

Maumelle and Central Arkansas Christian have both qualified for the tournament.

The Maumelle Hornets will have a wrestler in each of the weight classes with: Andrew Menchaca (106), Adam Nevarez (113), Cole Brainerd (120), Taylor Humphrey (126), Brendan Rancifer (132), Justin Butler (138), Willie Wright (145), Daniel Viera (152), Keon McVay (160), Gabe Crumley (170), Ashton Helms (182), Malik Singleton (195), Chase Lauderdale (220), and Keon Quince (285).

“As a team, we have done very well this season finishing with a 36-2 dual record, but that means nothing when it comes down to the state tournament,” said Maumelle coach Ed Viera. “I expect us to compete for the state title, and it would be great if these outstanding young men where able to bring back to the City of Maumelle the first state championship in school history.”
