The Maumelle Hornets won the Mustang Invitational Wrestling Tournament with a convincing 66-12 victory over Central Arkansas Christian in the finals last week.

The Hornets advanced to the finals with five dual victories in the two-day tournament, while CAC beat Little Rock Christian to get its spot in the finals.

The Hornets had victories in the finals by Cole Brainerd, Taylor Humphrey, Tracy Cook, Justin Butler, Willie Wright, Daniel Viera, Keon McVay, Gabe Crumley and Keon Quince.

The outstanding performances of the weekend were 4-0 records by Justin Butler, Daniel Viera, and Keon McVay, said coach Ed Viera.

Maumelle is at 30-1 on the season before Tuesday night’s dual match with Pulaski Academy and Little Rock Catholic.

CAC will be at Des Arc on Thursday before going to Little Rock Christian on Friday for a tri-match.
