Hazen dominant for Marlins at Meet of Champs

The Maumelle Marlins wrapped up their swim season Saturday at the Central Arkansas Swim League Meet of Champs held at UALR.

Maumelle finished third in the team standings, trailing first place Sherwood and second place Cabot.

The star for the Marlins came from the boys 13-14 division, where Spencer Hazen was completely dominant. Hazen competed in the platinum category and swept all five events, winning the freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and individual medley.

Boys

6-Under

Zane Sims had a great meet, winning the platinum free and breast and also the gold back. Parker Edds added a second place finish in the bronze back.

7-8

Will Sims gave the Marlins points in all five races. Sims won the platinum back and the gold breast. He finished second in the platinum free and IM, and third in the fly.

Ty Wunderl won the silver free and was second in the IM. Roman Avguchenko won the silver breast, Jonathan Walz won the silver IM, Carter Davis won the bronze breast, while Spencer Marshall was second in the silver fly.

9-10

Zack Marshall won the silver IM, was second in the breast and finished third in the gold fly. Aaron Boggan won the bronze IM.

11-12

Jordan Jones won the silver free and finished third in the IM.

13-14

Jacob Sutterfield won the bronze breast and IM, and was second in the silver back.

John Ellis Peyton finished second in the gold fly and the silver back, while Daniel Darnell was second in the gold free.

15-18

Paul Sheesley finished second in the bronze free and third in the back.

GIRLS

The girls had a great day at the pool, with 20 different Marlins finishing in the top three in their events, with half of those scoring in multiple events.

6-Under

Savannah Shelley finished second in the bronze back and third in the breast. Ava Dunn was second in the gold free, while Sidnie Marshall was third in the bronze back.

7-8

Melia Bugg looked good in the pool, winning the silver breast, finishing second in the gold back and taking third in the gold free and fly.

Natalie Walz won the bronze breast and was third in the back.

9-10

Eden Hamlin won the gold back and was second in the gold fly.

11-12

Kammie Marshall scored in three events, finishing second in the gold free and third in the fly and IM. Lillian Hamlin won the bronze free and was second in the fly.

Abby Blount won the silver back, Amaya Boggan won the gold back, and Aiden Lively was third in the gold breast.

13-14

Ellie Shelton led this group of Marlins, winning the gold IM, taking second in the free and back and was third in the breast.

Hannah Walz was second in the bronze IM and third in the silver breast, McKenzie Blount was second in the silver breast, while Morgan Atwood was second in the silver IM.

15-18

Bailey Shelton led the oldest group of Marlins with a silver win in the free, taking second in the gold back and third in the silver fly.

Jordan Marshall also scored in three events, taking second in the silver breast and IM, and third in the bronze back.

Lilly Hutson was second in the bronze IM, Taylor Elder was third in the gold free, and Leigha Ogden was third in the bronze free.
