Central Arkansas Christian saw its nine-match regular-season volleyball winning streak disrupted last week at Batesville Southside.
Ken Roberts’ Lady Mustangs fell, 22-25, 25-17, 22-25, 25-22, 15-10,and dipped to 10-3 overall and 7-1 in 4A-Central play. They played host to Maumelle on Tuesday (in pink uniforms for breast cancer awareness) and will travel to Marianna on Thursday and play host to Clinton on Tuesday, Oct. 8.
“We got outplayed,” Roberts said. “(Batesville Southside played a really good game, and we didn’t have our best. But you can’t do that when you go to somebody else’s place and expect to win.”
Southside has also lost to Lonoke and Marianna.
“We were competitive and had a chance, but I’m not sure the game was as close as the score,” the coach said.
He hopes the loss will be an attention-getter for his team.
CAC swept Marianna the first time around, 25-16, 25-12, 26-24, but Roberts isn’t looking past the Lady Trojans.
“I’m interested to see how we travel,” he said, “It’s our longest trip, and there’s some construction on the road, so we’re not sure how long it will take us.”
In their first meeting, the Lady Mustangs topped Clinton in the fourth game, 26-24.
He praised the recent play of junior middle blocker Rachel Basham.
