CAC VOLLEYBALL — Team gets into routine with school starting

Central Arkansas Christian’s volleyball team is slipping into its season routine starting this week.

Since beginning preseason practice several weeks ago, Ken Roberts’ squad has worked an elementary and junior high camp at Mustang Mountain and participated in team camps at the University of Central Arkansas and Benton. With the gym floor at Mustang Mountain being resurfaced last week, the Lady Mustangs had to find alternate practice venues, but they were to have been back at home starting Monday.

With school having started Wednesday at Mustang Mountain, the Lady Mustangs are in their usual season schedule with practice after school beginning at 3:30 p.m.

Roberts, the first-year Lady Mustang coach, said Sunday he was looking forward to the routine.

“With vacations and people being in and out of town, we’ve had some people out of pocket, and we’ve had very few practices with everybody there,” he said. “That’s why we’re looking forward to this week.”

He said the agenda for the week would include a lot of evaluation, which will carry over into the early-season matches.

“Everybody will get some game time, especially until the conference season starts,” he said Sunday. “I’m going to have some good senior leadership. By this time next week, I hope I know who is going to start.”
