CAC BOYS BASKETBALL | Mustangs fall to Arkansas Baptist

Matt Hall’s Central Arkansas Christian Mustangs lost their 7-4A conference opener on Friday at Arkansas Baptist.

The Mustangs fell to 1-6 on the year with the 50-45 loss. Stephen Flanigan led them in scoring with 11 points and added 10 rebounds. Davis Allen and Elijah Loring both added 10 points.

CAC played Drew Central on Saturday at Arkansas Baptist as part of the Eagles’ four-team Classic.

After Christmas, CAC will open play in the Spa City Shootout at Hot Springs’ Summit Arena beginning Friday. The Mustangs will open the tournament at 8:30 p.m. against Lake Hamilton. The winner will move on to Saturday’s 8:30 p.m. semifinal against the winner of the first-round game between Hot Springs Lakeside and Malvern; the loser will drop to the consolation bracket and face the loser of Lakeside-Malvern at 2:30 Saturday.

The other half of the eight-team bracket includes Little Rock Christian against Hot Springs and Clarksville against Maumelle. Those winners will meet in Saturday’s 5:30 p.m.semifinal; the losers will play an elimination game at 11:30 Saturday. The championship will be at 8:30 on Dec. 30, with the third-place game set for 5:30 Monday. Other consolation games include the seventh-place game at 11:30 a.m. and the fifth-place at 2:30 p.m.
