What’s new about the Newcomers Club

The Maumelle Newcomers Club is a social, charitable, and educational organization designed to provide a way for women in Maumelle to meet others and gather together for various activities of their choice. Whether you are new to the community, new to retirement or new to some leisure time to spend with women of like interests, Maumelle Newcomers Club has something to offer you.

The club meets at the Jess Odom Community Center on the first Friday of each month at 10 a.m. for coffee, snacks and a short meeting. We have a monthly Luncheon with entertaining programs and scrumptious food at the Maumelle Country Club. All through the month there are numerous groups that meet for canasta, bunko, mahjong, bridge, book club and other enjoyable activities.

The ladies of the Newcomers Club are not just about socializing. The club donates a $1000 scholarship each year to a deserving Maumelle resident. Many of the ladies help to deliver meals to the residents at Ronald McDonald house. Members also contribute to sponsor a needy family for Christmas and donate to the Veterans Christmas Drive and local women’s shelters.

Our next coffee, will be at 10 a.m. on Sept. 6 at the Community Center, is special as the club welcomes back members for a new season of activities and encourages everyone to bring a friend or neighbor to see what Newcomers has to offer. The chair ladies of each activity set up a display to entice new members to join. The membership is only $15 a year and the club is always ready to welcome new members.
