Veterans Day to be observed Nov. 11

Once again, we have the opportunity to honor our veterans. As usual, the ceremony will take place at Veterans Memorial at Lake Willastein at 4:30 p.m , Monday, Nov. 11. Alderman Ken Saunders and The Maumelle Players have done a great job of making this an event that is truly about the veterans. Veterans Day is about honoring all veterans, both living and dead.

Poppies will be given out to attendees as a reminder of those who have given their lives for freedom. The poppy has come to symbolize the fallen soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for us. The poppies are made by wounded veterans.

Remember to let us know about your event or organization so we can give it a place in a Spotlight on the Arts feature story or calendar. Contact me at maumellearts@gmail.com.
