Taco Bueno robbed at gunpoint

A single male armed with a pistol robbed Maumelle’s Taco Bueno Restaurant on Oct. 17 at around 10 p.m.

Two restaurant employees told police they were cleaning up the restaurant at 102 Savannah Drive when a 5-foot-9 black male wearing a red hoodie entered the store and robbed the safe taking an undisclosed amount of cash.

Officer Jeremy Newlin Sr., said employee Asia Martin, 28, of Little Rock told police the man came up behind her holding “what appeared to be a gun wrapped in a black and gold cloth” telling them, “Get on the ground. If you move I’m going to bust your [profanity].”

She said the man threatened to “shoot them” if they didn’t get on the ground.

Another employee, Frederick Burgess, 26, of Little Rock told police while the two employees were on the ground that the male “went straight to the safe in the back.”

Unfortunately, the safe was unlocked.

Shortly after police arrived, store manager Trayshundra Hampton, 26, of Little Rock arrived on the scene and provided police with a copy of the surveillance videotape.

Newlin said the tape showed the suspect enter the store at 9:39 p.m. and go directly into a bathroom.

Another employee, Shannon Meyers, “appeared to notice the male,” Newlin said.

Meyers, 42, of Maumelle was allowed to leave work early, Newlin said,

Hampton later told the police that $676.90 was missing from the safe.
