The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public about a scam in which the caller claims to be with Publishers Clearing House.

Sheriff’s deputies received a call on Saturday from an Alexander man who said he has been called twice by someone claiming to be with Publishers Clearing House. The person, using a voice modulator, told him he won $1.7 million and that he should go to Walmart, buy a $354 card and send the information about the card to circumvent the 40 percent federal tax on the prize, according to a press release from Lt. Carl Minden.
