Petrovic receives Newcomer’s Club scholarship

Vesna Petrovic is the recipient of the 2013 Maumelle Newcomer’s Scholarship. Petrovic just completed her senior year at Maumelle High School and has been accepted for entrance to the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.

Petrovic was selected as this year’s recipient for her many accomplishments reflected in her academic, extracurricular, and sports activities.

Petrovic is academically gifted and has been on the honor role throughout high school. She is a member of the National Honor Society and National Beta Club with a 3.5 grade point average.

Petrovic and her team took first place after competing with eight other teams in the Clinton Library Trivia Challenge.

In 2011, Petrovic received the “Real proud of Real Hornets Student Recognition Program Award” for Outstanding achievement in the classroom and community. She is a representative on the Maumelle Youth Council and has participated in many community activities. Petrovic also assisted in initiating a golf program for young women at Maumelle High School.

In the fall of 2011, Petrovic submitted a design for the school crest for Maumelle High School. Her design was chosen and will remain a lasting legacy of Maumelle High School.

Petrovic is the daughter of Ming and Vel Petrovic who are very proud of their talented and hard working daughter. They and their two younger sons look forward to Petrovic’s progress as she prepares for a career in optometry.

Maumelle is proud of Petrovic as an exemplary representative of this community and a worthy recipient of the 2013 Maumelle Newcomer’s Club Scholarship.
