Maumelle man arrested in drug raid

Interception of a drug shipment led to the raid of a Maumelle residence at 3 Hornrimme Place on Oct. 11 and subsequent drug charges against the resident, John Keith Ellis, 27, of Maumelle.

Maumelle Police said they were contacted by North Little Rock Police detectives who said they obtained a search warrant for a package allegedly being shipped to Ellis which police said contained 5.95 pounds of marijuana and 100.2 grams of hashish.

The package was addressed to Juliana Ellis of the same address.

Pursuant to a search warrant, police raided the home and said John Ellis and Tyler Johnson were both at the residence at the time.

Police said Juliana Ellis is the mother of John Ellis but does not live at that address.

The younger Ellis was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of Schedule VI controlled substances, maintaining a drug premises and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Lt. Dustin Ivey said police confiscated 83.4 grams of marijuana, another 152.5 grams of marijuana, 3.4 grams of marijuana and three white pills. He said the intercepted shipments contained the nearly six pounds of marijuana and the hashish.

The paraphernalia charges stemmed from scales, glass pipes, plates of sticky residue, rolling papers and potato seeds found on the property.

Ivey said John Ellis was released on a $15,000 bond.
